Napoli (1842) is one of August Bournonville’s choreographic successes that has had immense influence on the development of ballet. The Bournonville technique stands apart from others by the execution of steps playing on variations of accents and amplitude, with grace and lightness. Beyond an exercise of style, these excerpts from Act III of Napoli are performed in an atmosphere of a folk festival.
