With Les Mirages, Serge Lifar gives one of his deepest and most poetic ballet: he deploys his innate sense of male dance, intense dramatic density and a highly personal neoclassical vocabulary that emphasizes plastic harmony. Life is a succession of mirages which vanish, leaving the man alone with his shadow, in the vastness.
