For this piece, Duato was inspired by Spanish music of the 15th and 16th centuries as well as by some lines of the poet, Garcilosa de la Vega. In the 15th and 16th centuries, dancing was part of the expression of individuals, regardless of their social class, providing a living reflection of the culture of the time. Por vos muero pays tribute to this critical role played then by dance in society. Duato's contemporary writing is filled with classical gesture, tinged here and there with ethnic and folk nuances.
